Studi Photo Final

For my photo final, I choose to take panoramic pictures of people's bedrooms (basically).  I printed each one out on 11x14 enhanced matte paper.  I think I would like to see them on even large sized papers!
I would love to finish this project by taking many, many, many more pictures of people in their bedrooms.   I may want to think about this project for my senior seminar project...but I could broaden the idea more, or think differently about bedrooms...well I'll start thinking and writing down every idea.

Final Evaluation

Just finished my 1st semester as a junior!  My evaluation was with Ethan Berry, Matt Murphy, Diane Ayott, and Thorpe Fiedt.  It went really well, and I recorded it with my computer, so here are some stills (not that it really means anything)

TA-DA!

Now I just need to start thinking about Senior Seminar!!

(^Click^)

This is a video I made in my audio and video class.  First we had a project where we only made the audio, and then we had to put to it.
This video was inspired by my recent dreams.

(I wish I was able to upload it right onto the blog, but it was having problems)

Textures & Compositions

I didn't quite understand the assignment I had in my studio photo class, but I got some pictures I liked when I was searching for backgrounds to use in photoshop.

Barnacles

I sliced my foot on barnacles sunday night.  The lesson I learned was to not walk into the water at low tide, when you are drunk.  It was also dark out and I just did not see the giant rock that was covered in barnacles.  It hurts.  And it's difficult to walk.  My friends laughed at me and said I looked like a 70 year old woman.  I feel broken.  Although, it seems to be healing quickly, because I was able to pretty much walk normal, through the pain.

new home

My roommate is finally living in the apartment with me.  She had been traveling all summer.  I waited for her to get back to start decorating and what not...And I really love our living room.  It has a lot of windows, so natural light can come through, and it keeps it very airy.  The sheer curtains are wonderful too.  So when I had a few moments alone in the house, I took a few shots.

Lately, I've felt extremely more connected to my spirit.  I'm learning more about my spiritual path, and the earth's.  Right now it is the main thoughts in my mind and I think it is coming across in my art a lot.
I stopped by this nature park, The Great Swamp, in Morris County, New Jersey.  I felt really inspired to take self-portraits, there is something very therapeutic about going out into the nature, all alone.  It was very beautiful there, I loved the patches of light that came through the canopy of tress, yet I felt I was having trouble showing it in my photos.  I noticed though, that all my poses I felt like doing came across as spiritual or divine in some way.  I kept wanting to look up, to the sky, and the sun...I wanted to do yoga poses, yet at the same time that was not the direction I wanted to go in.. But maybe because I was in such a beautiful and very earthly place, that was just the connection and energy that I was receiving.

Then...I saw a raccoon, and I hear it's bad to see them in the day time.  But he was so cute, and didn't look like he had rabies?

Mirrors

I went through a lot of my older photographs, and had a lot of fun making them look very trippy and interesting to look at.  I love how the black and white versions can really leave it all to your imagination.  Some may even alter you're perspective.

Lesson Learned

Again, I stayed up until 5 am to go take pictures in the park....(I really need to find somewhere around here that I can go to at anytime and there should be no people)  I knew this was going to be a quick shoot anyway because I was using a smoke bomb, and I only had one.  I've been saving this blue smoke bomb for about 4 or 5 years?  I really wanted to use it in a photo shoot, but had no idea what the best way was.  And it was so much more precious since I only had one.  Finally, the other day, I thought of an idea!  This morning I was excited, because I actually had an exact way I wanted the photo to look and I couldn't wait to get it on camera.

But.....As I was doing some tests shots I forgot to put the camera back on self-timer/remote mode before I lit the smoke bomb.  So I lit the smoke bomb, and quickly dropped the lighter, positioned my hands to hide the remote and still be able to click away, and the camera wasn't taking the picture...so I started panicking and remembered I forgot to put it in remote mode and I quickly ran to the camera to change settings - while inhaling, practically the entire blue smoke cloud - and it was too late.  The smoke didn't last long in the jar and it quickly was swept away, up into the sky.  I remember turning around and watching it disappear into the air.  I was so upset and cursing myself because I had one chance, one smoke bomb, and I really screwed it up...

But I took a few shots after, since I thought it was neat that the smoke bomb stained the jar blue, and I found a website online where I can buy a pack of smoke bombs and so I will just have to try this again. And the lesson I learned was to always remember to check that I am in remote mode when I need to be shooting with my remote!

Enjoy!

Morning Light

I stayed up until 7:30 am.  I was about to go to bed around 4:30 am, but heard birds, looked out my window, and saw light breaking already.  Since I've been wanting to watch the sunrise, I decided to stay up since I wasn't too tired.  I also decided it would be the perfect time to go to the park and take photos because no one would be around. I learned that my remote doesn't have a very long range, so I had to keep running back and forth to set the self timer.  It was also really difficult to choose between the color or black and white versions, because there were different reasons that I like about them.  I really loved watching sky the sky become light instead of watching it become night; refreshing.
